What You Can Do With CSV Export/Update
Export all products to a CSV file.
Edit supported fields in bulk offline (e.g., titles, descriptions, attributes).
Validate changes during upload.
Apply updates in bulk after validation passes.
For many sellers, this will greatly reduce the time needed to maintain large catalogs.
1. How CSV Export Works
Steps to Export
Select the Products you want to edit.
Click Export CSV.
A background task will begin generating the file.
Once complete, download the CSV file.
Important Notes
CSV export runs as a background job.
You cannot start a new export while one is already in progress.
You can abort the export if needed.
Large catalogs may take longer to generate.
If the service restarts during export (e.g., due to system updates), the export may fail. You will see a notification if this occurs.
2. Using the CSV as a Template
Your exported CSV contains:
All editable product fields.
System-required columns.
Correct format for every field.
This CSV file must be used as your template for updates.
Uploading a CSV with missing headers, incorrect formats, or manually recreated structures will not be processed.
Critical Column: Id
The first column, Id, is the product identifier used internally.
Do not edit or delete it.
CSV files with missing or invalid product IDs cannot be processed.
3. What Can Be Updated via CSV
Only fields that are editable in the Listing Editor can be updated.
Supported examples:
Title
Description
Custom attributes
Tags
Condition
Shipping fields
Marketplace-specific editable fields
4. What Cannot Be Updated
The following fields are read-only and will not accept updates via CSV:
Not Allowed
Id (system identifier)
SKU
Images
Profiles
Price
Quantity
Any field marked as read-only in the Listing Editor
If any of these restricted fields are changed, the validation step will raise an error and the update will not proceed.
5. Uploading & Validating Your Updated CSV
Steps to Update
Upload your edited CSV file.
The system will run a validation check.
You will see:
Errors that must be fixed
Warnings (optional to fix)
Once all errors are resolved, click Apply Updates.
Reasons Your CSV Upload May Fail
Your upload may be rejected if:
Idcolumn is missing, modified, or invalidUnsupported fields were edited
Required fields are missing
The file structure or headers do not match the exported template
Values are in incorrect formats (e.g., invalid price formats)
The CSV was not exported from our system
6. System Protections & Limitations
To keep the platform stable and fast, we’ve added safeguards:
✔ One job at a time
You cannot run export and import simultaneously.
If an export or update is in progress, you must wait until it finishes or abort it.
✔ Ability to Abort Jobs
You can stop an export or upload job if needed.
✔ Background Processing
All CSV operations run in the background and may be interrupted by system updates.
If a job fails due to service restart, you will be notified and can try again.
✔ Usage Monitoring
The system monitors usage to prevent overload.
Very large product sets may take longer for field definition searches.
7. Troubleshooting & Known Limitations
Field Definition Lookup May Be Slow
When working with thousands of products, field definitions may take extra time to load.
Export/Update Fails After System Update
If the system restarts during processing:
You may see a failure alert.
Refresh the page to confirm.
Simply retry the export or upload.
8. Best Practices
Always start with a fresh export before making changes.
Never modify the Id column.
Do not attempt to update SKUs or images through CSV.
For complex logic, consider using Rules or Feeds instead of large CSV bulk edits.
Save a backup copy before uploading your updated CSV.
